MATAHARA
~~~~~~~~~~~
An up-and-coming star. Marissa and her band played an awesome set at Colour in 2022 (before Colour went kaput). We’re also linked via our fondness of Jakarta.
In her own words –
“she creates forward-thinking bedroom pop that lives in a world of its own and gives light and warmth to everyone around her.”
CLOVER BLUE
~~~~~~~~~~

Powerful, powerful songwriter and orator. Beautiful songs about desire and human connection. Beautiful band. ‘Cake’ was such a hit and came out at the same time as Hive Mind.
In their own words – "It's time for you to hear the flowers sing (I hope to hear you singing back)."

20-01 // Volta, Ballarat
Wautharong ––– [

GROVE
~~~~~~~~
A folk-rock band based out of Ballarat, Australia. Described by a close friend and collaborator as 'ernest-core'. Influenced by regional landscapes and the importance of connection.
In their words – "A Grove performance is a vulnerable glimpse into a collaboration by friends with the intention of exploring music and making space for learning." I'm keen to learn.
HOT GLUE
~~~~~~~~

A rock trio we j’adore. There’s some real pearlers (hahah) in their discography. I personally love Way Out but I know a young budding community that’s obsessed with Final Girl, and rightly so.
In their words –
“Heartfelt songs soaked in gritty guitar that voice reinvention and release, Hot Glue will double the size of your heart.”

JASMIN ADRIA
~~~~~~~~~~~
Beautiful, lush mature songwriting. I was very surprised that Jasmin was so young because her voice feels so fully-formed and wise. Three songs out so far and I can’t wait to hear more.
Jasmin is a a local to the Geelong/Surf Coast area, I hope she can bestow some wisdom upon us all when we play together at the Barwon Club Hotel.
MY GIDDY AUNT
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Rat Music for RAT PEOPLE. My friend would conceptually love this.
Released an EP in 2022 called All Things Come In Time with this banging opening track called Acceptance. Compliments Shame pretty well.
In their own words –
“My Giddy Aunt initially gives off notes of dreamy indie rock, but upon further consumption reveals itself to be a delicate baguette of flavoursome arrangements, tasty grooves, perfectly marinated melodies and fresh tomato.” Fuck, I’m hungry now.

JARROW
~~~~~~~
The hero of the story. The monarch of our dukedom. Jarrow was my jam back in high school – he truly was such a star in my eyes… frankly I am still starstruck.
In his own words – “Whether it’s about lost love, broken-down cars, memes, dreams or regrets - it’s somehow equally celebratory & deprecating all in the same beat.” I really hate that I’m about to type this word as a response to that quote… but, MOOD.
I also think about the beat for $$ Spoilers $$ a lot.
I haven't played a live show in a while. I am itching to be playing some shows and it seems that this January is the perfect time to get on the road with my friends and play my new album across Victoria.
We've played in Chewton and Beechworth earlier in 2022, and it was an absolute blast. In particular, I had the best time playing random songs up until late in Beechworth – it was actually so good. I've never played in Ballarat, Colac or Geelong before... in fact weirdly enough I've never been to Ballarat, but it should be an absolute baller time. I think we're going to Sovereign Hill actually... it's gonna be really really fun.
If you're a Naarm/Melbourne local like I am, I would urge you to come to Mamma Chens on the 7th of Jan as well as the Retreat on the 17th of Feb. Mamma Chens will be a nice, fun summer party at my favourite venue with some really wicked bands playing, plus it's free entry. The Retreat will be a refined showcase, performing the album from top to bottom to showcase how much work we've put into the tour and the album, and to celebrate its release.
Anyway, if anything I've ever made has had any interest to you, or you're keen to go out for an evening of music then I implore
Hope to see you somewhere!
