One time at a workplace, a father on the phone once vented to me that he couldn't understand video calling and online databases and I was speaking jargon and that he just wanted to do things the "traditional way".
This father couldn't believe the termination of their modern life.

tell me what i want
i watch your soul repair itself under the sunlight
i don't believe in the red light
you all believe you're right
and whether or not that's true
give up your possessions
give us your clothes
stand in rows
and be over it
you don't know where to head in life

It's easy to get upset with someone who doesn't know how to convert a document to a PDF, or is skeptical of 5G, or thinks they know best when it comes to their health or their body or their understanding of identity. But their perception of a shifting modern life must be exhausting and frustrating for them. Facts aren't facts for long. Outlandish concepts that were once considered a crime are now the status quo.
They feel like they know best, so they will resist.
Ego is king.

there will always be life
you won’t always be right
there will always be time
there will always be warmth
you won’t always be right

I don't believe in individuals being inherently good or evil. I do believe everyone acts within their self-interests, which do not typically link up with one another perfectly. People may be out of touch but it doesn't mean they won't make an effort to change if it's in their interest to.
i’ve got a feeling of the mood behind your pearly-whites
that they were stomping on your every right the way they treated you was never right and what you hearing in the news is just a blatant lie there is no bombing in the square tonight i think there’s money in the square tonight in the windows i remember why i’d never show you know, i didn’t really wanna go but i need to have another go and now we pour into the carriage like we’re merchandise you’re gonna leave before we say goodbye you disappear and have a better night |
i don’t believe the termination of our modern life
they’ll have to snatch my body overnight there’s nothing wrong with slipping out of life and what you hearing in the news is just a blatant lie there is no bombing in the square tonight there is no money in the square tonight and do they make these observations from an errant child? the new decisions are too far defiled would it be better if they reconciled? and now it’s pouring through the window like it’s merchandise I’m gonna leave before you say goodbye into the forest and into the night |
To me, the saddest feeling in the world is empathising with a so-called enemy. When two sides are pitted against each other, you are making two lines of thinking and judgement against each other. When you come to the understanding that the demon in your eyes is flesh and blood as well, that is when grief and shame begin to set in.
It is easy to contrast black and white. They are inherently not the same. Pitting grey and grey against each other isn't so simple.

Maybe one day, I will be older and confused about why certain things have to change. I hope someone can explain it to me well.
